Process Improvement
There is always room for improvement. Corporations all over the world are improving every aspect of their organizations performance by implementing a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization. All processes benefit from this approach, including those involving Safety & Health management.
The Results Analysis process provides raw material from which ideas for improvement can be crafted and implemented. Likewise, raw material for continuous improvement comes from Incident Investigation.
If part of an overall Safety & Health program is not performing as it should, specific causes will be identified by the Results Analysis process or the Incident Investigation process. Both of these processes uncover underlying reasons for program failure. The Results Analysis process will find reasons that the program is not achieving key metrics. The Incident Investigation will find reasons the program is not preventing incidents, such as accidents or near-misses.
Process Improvement involves observation of performance and learning from what does not work. The lessons learned are then incorporated into program improvements to elevate overall performance. If this iterative process is done correctly, the Safety & Health program will continuously improve, as will the value delivered to the organization.
