Employee Training

This is the training of employees to be knowledgeable and effective participants in a company's PLC program. In addition to our regular client-directed work, Harrington Group is interested in having a positive impact on the industry in which we specialize. One of the ways we can do this is by offering educational opportunities to the community.

Jeff Harrington and Ed Knopick (Firemark, Inc.) recently prepared a seminar to that end. Titled "Fire Protection & Life Safety Seminar for Distribution Centers & Warehouses," the information is directed toward architects, building owners and managers, safety managers, design engineers, fire protection and building officials, and insurance representatives.

Topics covered include:
  • Understanding the design, construction and benefits of Fire Protection Systems.
  • Maintenance and operation of Fire & Life Safety systems.
  • Establishing and operating an Emergency Contingency Plan and Emergency Response Team.
  • Problems and solutions to common occupancy hazards and processes.
  • Identifying and managing special hazards and hazardous materials.
The seminar format allows for interaction between participants and presenters. Discussion has been lively, and the participants have an opportunity to learn from each other. AIA Members can receive twelve Learning Units for full participation in this seminar. Six PDHs are awarded, and 0.6 CEUs will be earned. The units are accumulated on a permanent transcript for each individual at the FireMark Institute of Research and Education (F.I.R.E.).
