President and CEO, Jeff Harrington, P.E., FSFPE, received the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Committee Service Award during the 2015 NFPA Conference & Expo in Chicago, Illinois. Committee Service Awards are presented for continuous voluntary service to those in the fire protection industry that provide continuous voluntary service as a technical committee member for a substantial period of time. These awards are a token of recognition and appreciation of distinguished service to NFPA in the development of NFPA codes and standards.

The Committee Service Award was presented to Mr. Harrington in regards to the following NFPA committees on which he serves or has served:

  • Chair (2015 – Present) NFPA Technical Committee on Hybrid (Water and Inert Gas) Fire Extinguishing Systems (HYB-AAA)
  • Principal Member (2015 – Present); Chair (2005 – 2015) – NFPA Gaseous Fire Extinguishing Systems Technical Committee (GFE-AAA), responsible for NFPA 12, Carbon Dioxide Systems, NFPA 12A, Halon 1301 Extinguishing Systems, and NFPA 2001, Clean Agent Extinguishing Systems
  • Chair (2000 – 2004); Secretary (1991 – 2000) – NFPA Technical Committee on Halon Alternative Protection Options (NFPA 2001)

Mr. Harrington is a registered fire protection engineer with over 38 years of experience in fire protection design, property loss control, and code consulting and is the President and CEO of Harrington Group, Inc., one of the oldest and largest firms headquartered in the Southeast dedicated solely to fire protection. He is a frequent author and lecturer on a wide variety of fire protection engineering topics and is a nationally recognized expert, having received numerous awards for his contributions to the fire protection engineering industry.
